Movies Can Teach You A Lot about the Punk Rock Lifestyle
As a psychologist, I love having the opportunity to study different cultures, sub-cultures and the way art and music manifests and bleeds into every single aspect of our lives. Nowadays, with the internet, videos and movies, we can learn so much about each other and understand what makes each of us “beat” or “click”.
My latest research has been on the punk rock lifestyle and Scarlet Video Store has been one of my biggest resources in my search to learn more about this subculture. nMany think that punk rock is just loud music, the same old three chord guitar progression, leather jackets, spiked boots, piercings and Mohawks, but there is so much more to the punk rock lifestyle than appears to the naked eye.
I used Scarlet Video Store to find several movies based on the punk movement and it was an enriching experience. There is a whole philosophy in punk that is totally opposed to the often violent or aggressive displays we see in punk rock concerts. “Lords of Dogtown” is a great example of what punk (mixed with the skater culture) is all about.
